The Lodge Resort and Spa, Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Why so darn good? "Beautiful hotel. Super-nice and friendly staff. Delicious restaurant. We didn't get to partake, but they offer lots of "theme" weekends (i.e., murder mystery, holidays, etc.)."
Location: "Near Alamogordo, New Mexico, which is in Southeastern NM. Off the beaten path, for sure. Quiet, scenic location."
Rooms: "Decent size, antique-y feel. Quiet."
Food: "Not included, but really delicious. Fresh ingredients, great wine list."
Vibe: "Fun. Upscale."
Keep in Mind: "A little tricky to find. The hotel staff stayed on the phone with us while we navigated our way. Arrive earlier in the day to take advantage of the pool, hot tub, and other amenities."
