What makes O'Casey's Bed and Breakfast so Darn Good? O'Casey's Bed and Breakfast occupies a lovely century-old home in a quiet, residential neighborhood close to downtown San Antonio. The hosts are warm and knowledgeable and the bed and breakfast sports a cheerful Irish theme.
Location: O'Casey's is located in the Monte Vista Historic District two miles north of downtown San Antonio. For fun, stroll along the city's popular River Walk with its art galleries, shops, and restaurants, or explore a little Texas history at San Antonio Missions National Historic Park and the Alamo.
Rooms: O'Casey's has five spacious and well-maintained rooms and suites in the main house, and two studio apartments with kitchenettes in the carriage house. The main house has dual wrap-around porches perfect for reading and relaxing. Inside, hardwood floors, antique furniture, and claw-foot bathtubs complement the Irish theme to give the bed and breakfast the feel of another place and era.
Food: Breakfast, served at a large communal table in the dining room, was among the best I have ever had. A hot entrée, such as Eggs Benedict with home fried potatoes or French Toast with apples and cinnamon, is accompanied by fruit salad, toast and jam, and a savory breakfast meat.
Vibe: The bed and breakfast is family-friendly and the price is very reasonable.
Keep in Mind: The two carriage house apartments are pet-friendly. Also, the steps to the second floor are somewhat steep, so be sure to ask for a ground floor room if necessary.
