Darn Good Digs Review - Editors' Choice
Niagara Falls, Ontario: Rex Motel
Nominated By: cari, Louisville, Kentucky, August '11
Price Range: $55-$159 CAD (breakfast included) # of Rooms: 15 Kid-Friendly: Yes
What makes the Rex Motel so Darn Good? The Rex may look like a typical roadside motel from the outside, but inside you'll find cute remodeled theme rooms such as "Provence" and "Sunset in Africa". The owners, Emily and Simeon, are amazingly friendly and dish up tasty homemade Bulgarian pastries for breakfast.
Location: The motel is located right off the highway just over a mile from the town of Niagara Falls, Canada (and that little waterfall you’ve come to see).
Rooms: The Rex has six themed singles, eight themed doubles, and one family fun suite, otherwise known as Cuba Libre.
Food: For breakfast, the owners bring you freshly baked traditional Bulgarian pastries called bureks to enjoy with your coffee or tea. Each room has a mini-fridge and microwave, some have kitchenettes, and the motel has a communal BBQ area outside. While you’ll find a greater selection of restaurants in town, you can also grab a quick bite at the inexpensive restaurant across the street from the motel.
Vibe: Ultra friendly.
Things to Keep in Mind: The Rex may not be super fancy, but you can’t beat the price and experience for Niagara Falls!
